Scouting Fenton at Morgan Park

No. 12 Fenton (6-3) at No. 5 Morgan Park (8-1)

Class 6A

Game time: 3:15 p.m. Saturday at Gately Stadium in Chicago.

Bison fast fact: No regular-season opponents in the playoffs.

Mustangs fast fact: Lone loss to unbeaten Simeon.

Outlook: With last week's win at Riverside-Brookfield, the Bison clinched the Metro Suburban Conference title as well as a second straight playoff berth. Now they face an explosive Morgan Park team with playmakers throughout its lineup in hopes of breaking a streak of seven straight opening-round postseason losses. Fenton's become adept at running the ball with various personnel, a combination the Bison will need to extend drives and keep the Mustangs' offense off the field. Chris Butz boasts 843 rushing yards, but Alan Geneva also has been effective running out of the Wildcat formation. The Bison may not have the athleticism to keep up with Morgan Park, so defensively they must stay disciplined and avoid one-on-one situations. Linebackers Colin Byrne and leading tackler Matt Szajnowski need to contain quarterback Dae' Shaun Hurley, who rolled up 370 total yards, including 270 in the air, in last week's win over Clark. Hurley thrives in an option game and has a powerful arm.

Advancement: Winner plays the winner between No. 13 Fenwick (5-4) and No. 4 Prairie Ridge (8-1).
