Des Plainesbull; Andrew P. West, 22, of the 1200 block of South Lee Street, Des Plaines, was charged with battery. Reports said he threw his breakfast at the officer delivering food to prisoners in the department's holding cells, 1420 E. Miner St., around 7 a.m. Sept. 19. A cup of coffee hit the wall next to the officer and splashed the officer's face and chest. His court date is Oct. 15.bull; Paul R. Peterson, 39, of the 6200 block of West More Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 6:20 p.m. Sept. 19 in a lot at Holy Family Medical Center, 1400 E. Golf Road, and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (marijuana pipe). Officers watched Peterson looking into cars and stopped him when he retrieved the pipe from bushes near the parking lot, reports said. His court date is Oct. 15.bull; Julio C. Cano, 26, of the 4900 block of West Diversey, Chicago, was arrested around 1:15 a.m. Sept. 19 in an apartment lot on the 400 block of North Third Avenue and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (marijuana pipe). His court date is Oct. 13.bull; Christian Ruiz, 21, of the 7100 block of Barry Street, Des Plaines, was arrested around 11 p.m. Sept. 17 and charged with aggravated assault, battery and leaving the scene of an accident. Reports said he threatened a woman with a brick in the gangway behind a home on the 1800 block of South Mannheim Road, then hit a 36-year-old man riding a bicycle on the 1300 block of East Prospect Avenue as he drove away. Ruiz has court dates on Oct. 22 and 24.bull; Phyllis Cali, 45, of the 1300 block of East Jefferson Street, Des Plaines, was arrested around 3 p.m. Sept. 20 at the police department and charged with disorderly conduct. Reports said Cali had been arrested earlier after a woman reported her stealing at the library. Later, Cali was in the library parking lot when she shouted at the woman, who was sitting at the Metra depot with her husband, reports said. Cali's court date is Oct. 22.Hoffman Estatesbull; Mauricio Calderon, 26, of the 100 block of Heine, Streamwood, was arrested around 12:30 p.m. Sept. 18 on the 1500 block of Barrington Road and charged with illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving under the influence, and traffic violations. His court date is Oct. 7.bull; Vandals broke off the driver's-side mirror on a 2008 Kia Spectra, 2007 Mercury Milan, 2001 Kia Sportage, and 2008 Saturn Ion on the 500 block of Kingman and 1996 Toyota Avalon on the 500 block of Mohave between 11:55 and midnight Sept. 18. Damage was estimated at $1,750.bull; Vandals scratched three vehicles belonging to the same woman on the 1000 block of Higgins Quarter Drive between Aug. 9 and Sept. 20.
