Dist. 211 students learning to use e-mail correctly

Colleges, universities and most jobs require individuals to use e-mail effectively as a primary means of communication.

To support District 211 students in developing skills and efficiency with e-mail, and to encourage collaboration and exchange among students and teachers, the district has issued an individual e-mail address each District 211 student.

All students received Internet safety training on Sept. 21, 22 and 23, in advance of e-mail addresses being issued.

Student training included topics as social networking (online identity; digital citizenship), spam, cyberbullying and cyber safety, as well as e-mail training in calendar use and storage.

Students also were introduced to various technology resource personnel available at their school, including the technology coordinator, police consultant social worker, guidance counselor, and administrators.
