Chevys to take part in Woodstock Corvette show

The Sunburst Corvette Club of Crystal Lake will host its 2010 Corvette and Chevrolet Car Show Saturday, Aug. 14, at Reichert Chevrolet, 2145 S. Eastwood Drive (Route 47) in Woodstock.

The car show is the club's primary fundraiser every year and proceeds are used toward local charities. This year should prove to be a spectacular event as it is the first time they have invited all Chevrolets to participate.

The car show will include National Council Corvette Clubs Inc. concours events (Corvettes only), which will be judged by trained concours judges and participants will vie for NCCC points (Corvettes only).

There will also be People's Choice Awards for all Corvette and Chevrolet entries, and spectators and participants are encouraged to vote for their favorite in each class.

Registration is encouraged and those interested can visit www.sunburstcorvetteclub.com under the Events Listing section. Same-day registration and technical inspection (Corvette Concours judging only) will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

There will be a driver's meeting for all competitors at 10 a.m., and judging for the first concours will begin at 10:30 a.m. Event registration is open to all Corvette and Chevrolet owners. The registration fee is $15 per event for members and $20 per event for nonmembers.

Spectators have free admission and there will be food, refreshments, entertainment and various vendors on-site. There will be a silent auction held and raffle tickets will be sold for both door prizes and a cash 50-50 raffle. Carousel Sound will provide music and announcements for the event.

The Sunburst Corvette Club is in its 33rd year of existence and is more than 120 members strong. The club uses funds it raises to support local charities such as McHenry County Salvation Army, Heart of a Marine Foundation, Toys for Tots and Little Angels Home for the severely disabled, to name just a few.

The membership participates in a variety of events, including racing competitions, leisurely drive-outs, cross country treks and car shows. For details, visit sunburstcorvetteclub.com.
