Fill the boot in Elgin:
Elgin firefighters will be raising money in their Fill-the-Boot fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the intersections of Summit and Liberty streets, Big Timber Road and McLean Boulevard, and Weld Road and South McLean Boulevard. Firefighters are asking motorists to drop donations into boots to helps support MDA services, research programs and summer camps. Firefighters hope to raise $13,000, about triple the $4,500 they raised last year. Firefighters will be at the same intersections during the same hours on Aug. 13 and 21.
