Scouting Mundelein at Buffalo Grove

Last year's opener: Buffalo Grove d. Mundelein 26-0

Outlook: BG took a 3-2 edge in the series last year with its second straight win. "It's Bob's (Mundelein coach Stone) third year and my third year and we've become more familiar with each other as an opponent," said BG coach Jim Farrell. "It's a nice rivalry and we've competed well against them." Mundelein hopes to pick up where it finished last year with a 7-0 win over Libertyville. "That win against Libertyville was so big for our program," Stone said. "I think it really helped us going into the offseason and to have a productive offseason." Mundelein may throw more than usual with WR Brian Grant (5 TDs) from senior Ryan VanderPloeg or junior Gable Leppert. John Devito rushed for 365 yards last year.
