Prince, Warren rule at Grayslake Central
Aleisha Prince ruled the 100-meter dash, and she and her Warren track and field teammates ruled the night.
The Blue Devils won the Grayslake Central Ram Invitational on Thursday with 143 points, 23 more than runner-up Highland Park.
Carmel (92) edged Stevenson (88) for third, while Mundelein (51), despite winning the 1,600 and 3,200 relays, finished a distant fifth among the eight teams.
Warren, which was edged by Cary-Grove for the title last year, won the 400 and 800 relays. The Blue Devils received individual wins from Prince in the 100 (13.03), Julie Wiemerslage in the 1,600 (5:22.37) and Alyssa Phillips in the high jump (5-0).
Stevenson's Christina Pritchett ran a winning 27.03 in the 200 dash to edge Warren's JonTaye Bonds (27.2), Grayslake Central's Jacqui Kirk (27.55) and Carmel's Shannon Howell (27.99). Pritchett was runner-up to Prince in the 100 dash.
Stevenson also got victories from Mackenzie Levy in the 3,200 (11:49.05), Shannon Legge in the shot put (33-5) and Rachel Redmond in the discus (115-08). Levy settled for second in the 1,600.
Carmel's Hilary Halford ran the 800 in a winning 2:23.77, beating Warren's Gabby Nystrom (second) by nearly three seconds. Carmel got wins, as well, from Howell in the 300 hurdles (46.76) and Stephanie Richartz in the pole vault (11-0), while MaryBeth Berg was edged by Highland Park's Alice Rhoudes in the 400. The Corsairs' 800 and 1,600 relays were second.
Mundelein's Megan Geldernick easily won the 100 hurdles (15.79) and placed second in the 300 hurdles.
Warren received second-place efforts from throwers Stephanie Horejs (shot put) and Molly Ferris (discus).
