Bohac, Lake Zurich get their hacks in
Tabbetha Bohac took a mighty hack.
So did a lot of Lake Zurich and Mundelein softball hitters on Thursday.
Bohac's first home run of the season was one of 20 hits by Lake Zurich in its 15-11 win. The Bears received 3 hits apiece from Kelly Neisis (3 runs, 2 walks, stolen base), Ella Aslan (2 runs, stolen base) and Brianna Welbourn (RBI). Bohac (2 RBI) and Kelli Blume (double, 2 runs) each had 2 hits, and Alli McGinnis (3 RBI) also doubled.
Winning pitcher Megan Mattera allowed 13 hits and 9 earned runs in a complete-game effort but struck out 11.
Lake Zurich improved to 7-6 overall and 4-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division.
Grayslake North 4, Lakes 2: Brianna Leon earned the win and went 1-for-3 at the plate for the Knights in the nonconference game.
Carlie Rosario was 1-for-1 for Grayslake North.
Johnsburg 9, Grayslake Central 2: The Skyhawks broke open a 1-1 game by scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the fourth.
