No good reason not to tape 211 meetings

Hats off to Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 board of education members Bill Robertson, Anna Klimkowicz and Mucia Burke.

These three board members recently supported the video taping of the District 211 board meetings. The meetings would then be available on the district website for viewing by those residents unable to attend the meetings.

The Village of Palatine has even offered their video-capable facility for a 2-3 month trial period, at no cost. What a great service to the taxpayers of High School District 211. Right? No, wrong!

Board President Robert LeFevre, Vice President George Brandt, and board members Richard Gerber and Edward Yung voted against the taping of the meetings — with Richard Gerber stating that the board meets the minimum requirements for transparency when it comes to sharing board meeting information.

I feel that there are two possible reasons why Robert LeFevre, George Brandt, Richard Gerber and Edward Yung voted against the taping of the Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 meetings. One, they are not photogenic, or two, they are trying to hide something from the District 211 taxpayers.

Let’s contact them and find out what the real reason is.
