Hoffman Madrigal Singers perform at dinner

Hoffman Estates High School’s annual Madrigal Dinner was held Dec. 2 and 3 at the school.

Those who attended were transported back 500 years when chivalry was the law of the land, a time when kings ruled in splendor, knights jousted for the glance of a fair maiden, and great madrigals were sung in courts of mighty lords and ladies.

The evening began with chamber music from the Brass Ensemble as people entered the school cafeteria which was magically transformed into the great hall of an English castle. Attendees enjoyed a Renaissance holiday feast, while being entertained by jester skits, a charming wench, a Recorder Consort, and all the festive holiday traditions.

The evening was highlighted by the performance of the Madrigal Singers, dressed in authentic 16th century costumes and singing their enchanting music.
