Forte-Scott puts policy ahead of politics

I would like to answer the letter endorsing Mr. Higgins for the House in District 56, and chided Anita Forte-Scott for "causing a primary election at the cost of taxpayer money". Mr. Fecarotta is an elected official and certainly should know better than most, that Anita had nothing to do with causing this primary election.

A primary is held any time there is more than one candidate for any office and this elections has a plethora of candidates for governor, U.S. Senator, etc.

How dare Anita run against the hand-picked candidate of the local Republican party. Could it be that she does not subscribe to the dictum that party unity is paramount, so once a candidate is endorsed all others should just bow out?

I am a Democrat, and I do not live in the 56th District, but have served with Anita these past 5-plus years on the Schaumburg Township District Library Board. Anita consistently votes for those policies which benefit the library patrons, regardless of any political considerations. At all times, she places public service above politics. Does that upset the local Republican party honchos?

Perhaps that is why the local Republican organization did not endorse her, and tried to discourage her for running in the primary. Politics as usual with the Party leaders hand-selecting candidates has always been more important than choosing integrity with a proven record of public service.
