Barrington Area Crop Walk attracts 350
Over 350 walkers participated in the 29th anniversary Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk. Leading the throng of walkers on a beautiful October Sunday were volunteers from FISH Food Pantry, Carpentersville, serving as grand marshal, and bagpiper Terry Oldfield.
Twenty-five percent of all funds raised in the Barrington area is kept for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the FISH Food Pantry, Barrington Meals With Wheels, Wauconda-Island Lake Food Pantry, St. Anne’s Project Hope, the People in Need program of the Barrington Area Ministerial Association and Barrington Giving Day. The rest of the money raised is used by Church World Service for disaster relief and hunger-related programs in the U.S. and around the world.
Thanks to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for chairing the event this year. Donations can still be made at: www.churchworldservice.org.
