Lake Co. YMCA offers free basketball, soccer clinic for children

If you've ever wanted your 3-to-4-year-old to try basketball or soccer but haven't had the opportunity yet, then the Northern Lake YMCA in Waukegan is the place to be Saturday. The free workshop takes place from 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 8 at the YMCA, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan.

“This is a great opportunity for kids to try out both basketball and soccer at once,” said Program Director Phil Tensley. “The emphasis is on building self-esteem, increasing agility while getting some aerobic activity, and having fun.”

The clinic is designed just for preschoolers to learn hand-foot and eye coordination to help build future motor skills.

All Lake County Family YMCA programs are designed to encourage the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Registration is not required but for more information, call Tensley at (847) 360-9622.
