Holy Week at St. Peter's UCC Skokie
Holy Week is a special time at St. Peter's. We offer the complete array of worship experiences, which include Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. Our services include traditional elements - palms on Palm Sunday, the sacrament of the Lord's Supper on Maundy Thursday, and the Last Words of Christ on Good Friday. We also include some newer traditions, like an Egg Hunt for children after the worship service on Easter Sunday. We hope you'll join us as we celebrate these holiest of days in the Christian faith. All are welcome - we are an Open and Affirming Congregation, and we invite all families and persons in our community to join us.
Palm Sunday: April 14th at 10am - Welcome Jesus into Jerusalem with us!
Maundy Thursday: April 18th at 7pm - Join us as we remember Jesus' last days the Last Supper
Good Friday: April 19th at 7pm - Holy Communion, a Choir anthem and Jesus's 7 last words will all be a part of our service.
Easter Sunday Worship: April 21st at 10am - Join us as we celebrate the Risen Christ!
Easter Egg Hunt: April 21st at 11:15am - St. Peter's UCC invites and welcomes ALL children to our egg hunt. We try to do it on our front lawn but if the weather isn't cooperating, we'll do it inside. Bags are provided but baskets are welcome as well. LOTS of treats for the kids - come check us out!
About St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Skokie
Saint Peter's was established on May 5, 1867, as St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church by German immigrant farmers. It was the first church organized in what was then called Niles Center. In 1957, St. Peter's adopted the new, progressive denomination of United Church of Christ. Our church is more than 150 years old … our thinking is not. We worship in grace and beauty, fellowship in love and friendship, and serve the Lord with humility and passion. Located at the corner of Oakton and Laramie, across the street from the Village Hall and the Library, we are the Open and Affirming heart of our neighborhood, and plan to be here for (at least) another 150 years.
