Burlington Central golfer Matt Weber parlayed a hot start Tuesday

Burlington Central golfer Matt Weber parlayed a hot start into medalist honors at the Glenbard North Invite at Glendale Lakes Golf Club in Glendale Heights Tuesday.

Weber birdied 5 of the first 7 holes en route to shooting a 4-under-par 66. He played evenly on the back nine. Weber edged second-place finisher Mason Wicks of Huntley, who fired a 69, believed to be a school record for 18 holes, according to Huntley coach Jim Rolando.

Vernon Hills won the event with 295 combined strokes. Burlington Central, paced by Weber, took second (310) followed by Huntley (313). Bartlett finished eighth (323).

Huntley's score of 313 represented a new school record. Joining Wicks in the record book were Ryan Craig (77), A.J. Fanselow (82) and Garrett Chmiola (85).

“I'm really pleased and all the guys were very excited,” Rolando said.
