Cary Grove chamber sponsors farmers market

The Cary Grove Chamber has started a new Cary Farmers Market Sundays that is attracting about 1,500 residents each week.

The outdoor market is held in the North commuter parking lot near the intersection of High Road and West Main Street in downtown Cary. The market features a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, baked goods, herbs, flowers, plants and more.

The Cary Farmers Market will be every Sunday through Oct. 9. Market hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Our kick-off year for the new Cary Farmers Market has been incredible,” said Suzanne Corr, executive director of the Cary Grove Chamber.

“This event is in direct response to many requests from residents through the years. We have had more residents come up to our chamber booth and thank us than we ever could have imagined. We are pleased to say we have gathered a number of quality vendors that will offer a wide range of amazing products.”

According to Corr, farmers market items will include fresh vegetables such as corn, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, eggplant, beets, squash, Bak choy, radishes, peas, green beans, spinach, and several varieties of tomatoes; fresh fruits such as Michigan apples, peaches, berries, several varieties of peaches, plums, nectarines, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries; baked goods such as pies, breads, cookies, muffins, and cupcakes; and specialty items such as jellies, salad dressings, herbs, flowers and plants, and more.

Each week the selection is different and will vary throughout the season.
