McDonald's shooting not enough as Schaumburg falls

Javon McDonald continued his hot shooting for Schaumburg, but it wasn't enough in Pontiac holiday tournament play on Thursday as the Saxons fell 52-32 to Curie.

McDonald went 4-for-4 from 3-point range and finished with a game-high 15 points. The rest of the team struggled from the field, though, shooting 11-for-38. In Schaumburg's victory over Oak Park-River Forest on Wednesday, McDonald was 6-for-6 from 3-point range.

Curie was led by Greg Travis with 12 points and Paris Burns with 11.

Christian Spandiary contributed 6 points for the Saxons (5-7) on 2-of-4 from the field and 2-for-2 and the foul line.

Conant 64, Oswego 61: Conant (10-3) ended the 37th annual Jack Tosh Holiday Classic at York on a good note with the 11th-place game victory.

Dylan Bartuch (16 points), Sean Bourke (14 points) and London Dokubo (13 points) led the Cougars to a 2-2 tournament finish.

St. Francis 58, Palatine 33: The Spartans outscored the Pirates 18-3 in the first quarter and rolled to victory in the 15th-place game of York's Jack Tosh Holiday Classic.

Six-foor-4 junior Ryan Coyle scored a game-high 24 points and had 6 rebounds for St. Francis.

Peter Bony was the only player in double figures for the Pirates (5-9) with 11.

According to stats kept by host Dukes, St. Francis out-rebounded Palatine 33-10.

Lemont 47, Leyden 46: The Eagles outscored tournament host Lemont 23-13 in the fourth quarter yet came up short in the 11th-place game.

Patrick Listwan had a team-high 15 points for Leyden (4-9) along with 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. Brandon Stinson, Andres Orrego and Brian McNamara had 7 points apiece for the Eagles, who shot 2-for-7 from 3-point range.

Evan Bridwell led all scorers with 32 points for Lemont (6-8).
