Huntley church to host 'Bags & Bingo' June 5 to fund summer mission trip
On Saturday, June 5, the youth mission ministry at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley will host an afternoon of fun with "Bags & Bingo." The "fun-draising" event will be noon to 4:30 p.m. in the church parking lot, weather permitting, or indoors in the church's fellowship hall, 10805 Main St.
"We look forward to having a fun day filled with fellowship and food, plus silent auctions, raffle baskets, and much more," said Kurtis Arndt, youth ministry intern. "Our Pastor Mark Boster is a good sport and will take on Ping-Pong challengers, too."
The bags tournament begins at 1 p.m. at $10 each for a random draw partner and $25 for prearranged team. Championship prizes will be awarded a 2021 Mission Trip T-shirt and a Lou Malnati's pizza certificate. Guests are invited to watch or play.
Bingo rounds will take place every 30 minutes at $1 per card. A variety of prizes will be awarded including: gift cards, raffle tickets, 50/50 tickets, and other giveaway items.
Proceeds from the event will support this year's summer 2021 "Simplicity" Mission Trip for over 14 high school students and four adult chaperones, including Arndt, in Indiana. The group will be involved in a "Mystery Trip" coordinated by AdventureServe Ministries. They will be guided to different locations in Northwest Indiana for a variety of different service opportunities, such as home repair, environmental care, and hospitality. When not actively serving the community, students will serve each other, worship, play, and meet special guests from Valparaiso University, the alma mater of youth intern Kurtis Arndt.
