Crystal Lake S. downs Huntley
Sam Golf did it all for Crystal Lake South’s softball team Wednesday.
Golf tossed a 4-hitter and went 4-for-4 at the plate with 2 doubles and 2 RBI as the Gators (19-9) downed Huntley 6-0 in the semifinals of the Class 4A Rockford Jefferson regional.
CL South will take on top-seeded Jacobs (20-11) Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Rockford for the regional championship and a berth in next week’s Rockford Guilford sectional.
Liz Adams went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI for the Gators Wednesday, while Shannon McGinnis also drove in a run.
Randi Peterson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tara Lycos drove in a run for Huntley. Taylor Larson allowed 8 hits with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks in suffering the loss for the Red Raiders (16-19).
