Gandy’s dandy for Grayslake North
Kristina Gandy struck out 14 batters, as Grayslake North’s softball team defeated Dundee-Crown 4-1 in Fox Valley Conference action Thursday.
Hailey Badovinac was 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Knights. Grayslake North (12-5, 7-2) got other hits from Jordyn Bowen, Kelsey Borders, Raquel Ness, Jessica Davis, Courtney Peterson and Brooke Tracy (RBI).
Vernon Hills 5, Wauconda 0: Megan Meline pitched a 3-hitter with 8 strikeouts and no walks for the Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie contest.Meline also stole 2 bases, while Jenn Claussen had 2 RBI.Glenbrook South 4, Stevenson 2: Ashley Niedermayer and Lara Horwitz had doubles for the Patriots in the nonconference game.
Stevenson fell to 11-5-1.
Lake Zurich 7, Lake Forest 3: Freshman Maria Schroeder hit her first home run and went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and a stolen bases for the Bears in the North Suburban Lake game.Christina Sandstedt was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Lake Zurich (14-6, 7-1).Johnsburg 7, Grayslake Central 5: The Rams lost the Fox Valley Conference game, despite Claire Brennan#146;s fifth home run.
Tayler Janda allowed only 1 earned run in 6 innings but took the loss.
Lakes 3, Mundelein 2: Winning pitcher Shannon Cooley and Jessica Bruggen had doubles for the Eagles, and Sara Braden singled twice in the North Suburban crossover.Haley Morelli had a double for Mundelein (10-10), and Chloe Peterson went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
