Bartlett d. St. Charles East: Bartlett got stronger as the match went on and rallied to win the final two games of an 3-set Upstate Eight Conference clash in Bartlett 22-25, 25-22, 25-12. Outside hitter Russell Martin had 16 kills, 2 blocks, 2 aces and 7 digs, outside hitter David Upp finished with 11 kills, 4.5 blocks, 4 aces and 14 digs, middle blocker Michael Marciniak recorded 4 kills, 2.5 blocks and 3 digs, opposite Alex Barat made 5 blocks, libero Mike Shanahan had 9 digs and 3 aces and setter Andrew Harris contributed 11 assists, 2 aces and 5 digs for Bartlett (19-9, 2-2).
“After a slow start we rebounded to beat a tough opponent in three,” Bartlett coach David Barker said.
Streamwood d. Geneva: The Sabres swept the Vikings 25-23, 25-19 in an Upstate Eight Conference road match. Jerrold Ofiana finished with 5 kills and 4 digs, Nick Rice had 5 kills and 4 blocks, Kevin Rosas made 13 digs and an ace and setter Phil Montero dished 13 assists and made 7 digs for Streamwood.
“The boys played very well,” Sabres coach Lisa Vazzana said. “They worked together and kept the momentum on our side.”
It was the fifth win in 8 contests for Streamwood.
Metea Valley d. South Elgin: The Storm took Game 1 of this Upstate Eight match 25-19, but the Mustangs rallied to win the next 2 games 25-18, 25-20 to prevail. Sean Saxton led the Storm with 11 kills and 3 blocks and Jake Mendel had 7 kills and 6 digs for South Elgin (8-12, 0-5).
IMSA d. St. Edward: Jason Hempstead had 10 kills and 6 digs to lead the Titans to a nonconference victory in Aurora.
