Wheaton man named new CDH president
Michael V. Vivoda of Wheaton has been appointed president of Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He previously was the hospital’s executive vice president.
Vivoda, 51, replaces former president and CEO Luke McGuinness, who was named CEO of the newly formed CDH-Delnor Health System.
“Mike is a proven leader and is eminently qualified to lead CDH,” McGuinness said. “This executive change supports CDH’s ability to sustain quality, achieve operational excellence and maintain focus on patient satisfaction.”
Vivoda has been a member of the executive team since 2004, and has worked to grow and expand CDH’s service and recruit physicians.
“He has earned the respect and confidence of the physicians, nurses and staff,” said Dr. Jim Giblin, president of CDH’s medical staff.
Vivoda has a broad-based background in both inpatient and outpatient hospital operations, as well as physician group management. He was the lead executive responsible for creating CDH’s new $35 million comprehensive cancer center and for achieving a sixfold increase in CDH’s laboratory business over the last five years.
Vivoda has spent almost his entire career in health care in Chicago after starting as a hospital administrator in the United States Air Force.
A graduate of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned his master of management through the Executive MBA Program at Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Vivoda also is active in the community — he’s the board chair of Access DuPage, a program for the uninsured in DuPage County; a lector at St. Michael’s Church in Wheaton; a College of DuPage Foundation board member; and an advisory council member for Family Shelter Services, a program supporting victims of domestic violence.
He and his wife, Cyndi, have been married almost 30 years and have two adult children.
