Your news: Maine East's Aleks Bojics to play football for Carthage

Maine East Blue Demon senior Aleks Bojics has committed to play football for Carthage College next fall. Aleks played center last fall for the Blue Demons, who, under the direction of coach Gabe Corey, won 2 and lost 7, snapping a 39-game losing streak in the process.

Corey took over the reins of the Maine East football program last year after an absence of six years, taken to spend more time with his young family. He previously served as head coach for the Blue Demons from 1993 to 2002. Corey was named the Chicago Bears High School Coach of the Week last fall after Maine East ended its losing streak with an opening-week victory over Chicago Schurz.

Bojics, 6-3 and 260-pounds, will play on the offensive line for Carthage, a Division III team that compiled a 7-3 record last year.

"Aleks will be successful in everything he encounters," Corey said. "He is an excellent student athlete. I would have loved to coach Aleks for four years."

Carthage, located in Kenosha, Wis., and coached by Tim Rucks, plays in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
