Grade-schoolers to attend ‘No Excuses Unversity’ at Palatine H.S.

On Friday, Sept. 23, Palatine High School will host its second annual “No Excuses University” pep assembly for elementary students from Virginia Lake, Jane Addams, Winston, Lincoln, Lake Louise, and Sanborn elementary schools.

Elementary schools will come in two shifts, beginning at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., for performances by the band, poms, flags and cheerleaders, as well as student speakers, in the school’s Chic Anderson Stadium.

“No Excuses University” is a network of elementary, middle, and junior high schools across the country, actively promoting a comprehensive model of college readiness. It is designed to get elementary schoolchildren to think about the next level of their academic career in high school, and ultimately college. Each classroom participating in the program adopts a university/college and there are activities planned throughout the school year with their college’s theme.
