Your news: Mundelein H.S. students place in leadership competition

Mundelein High School students in the Future Business Leaders of America organization earned a number of awards at the area competition held recently at Warren Township High School. Students compete in a variety of events including technology, public speaking, entrepreneurship, math and writing.

First-place winners and their events included: Dean Bekiaris, introduction to technology concepts; Steven Chin, computer applications; Stephanie Chin, parliamentary procedure; Kristin Doering, impromptu speaking; Jassy Gonzalez, Who’s Who in FBLA; and Ben Nicholson, spreadsheet applications.

Second-place winners were: Mary Breeden, digital video production; Bailey Hicks, business communications; Jessica Miyake, spreadsheet applications; Lauren Sison, FBLA principles and procedures; Arielle Sison, Word Processing II; and Andrea Stoll, digital video production.

Third-place winners included: Alexis Bumatay, introduction to business communications; Aakash Choubal, Word Processing I; Eddie Gathercoal, Word Processing II; Christina LaFleur, impromptu speaking; TJ Maple, digital design and promotion; Owen McCarthy, business ethics; Samantha Miller, cyber security; Steve Slaughter and John Syme, business ethics; and Adam VanderPloeg, digital design and promotion.

Other students who placed in the top 10 were: Krina Adhikari, Ashley Blennerhassett, Megan Bockrath, Zach Brown, Emily Colon, Ian Cumberland, Anthony Doretti, Nick Doretti, Claire Erickson, Khrystyna Helner, Warren Jobe, Emily Kehoe, Evee LaFleur, Luke Nicholson, Troy Peterson, Alexis Ramirez, Bryan Schwab, Michael Schwarzhaupt and Mohini Verma.
