Sign up for safe driving program in Grafton Twp.

For older drivers, Grafton Township is offering a course just for you.

The township is sponsoring an AARP Driver Safety Program throughout February, March and April. The comprehensive course is designed to teach drivers how to operate their vehicles more safely in today’s driving environment and to provide a thorough review of the rules of the road.

The two-day course is available to AARP members and nonmembers. The cost is $14; AARP members receive a $2 discount. For details or to register, contact Grafton Township Supervisor Linda Moore at (847) 669-3328 or e-mail lindamooregt@hotmail.com.

Volunteers needed: The McHenry County Medical Reserve Corps is hosting an orientation session at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at The Pointe, 5650 Northwest Hwy., Crystal Lake. New volunteers and those looking to join the corps are invited to attend.The McHenry County Medical Reserve Corps is a community-based network of volunteers that assist public health efforts in times of special need or disaster, such as during a major communicable disease outbreak, an earthquake, flood, fire, evacuation or an act of terrorism. Members of a medical reserve group may also volunteer their time throughout the year in order to promote community public health and education. The corps is organized and trained to work in emergency situations to supplement existing local emergency plans and resources.The McHenry Medical Reserve Corps is looking for nonmedical volunteers, as well as current or retired health professionals.
