The village board on Tuesday unanimously approved an ordinance imposing a moratorium on such uses in response to concerns about the loss or conversion of vacant retail spaces to non-retail uses. The village relies heavily on sales tax to fund operations. During this period, the village will study and develop a strategy to preserve the retail base while balancing the needs of the individual property owners to fill their vacant spaces and continue to operate their shopping centers. The ordinance does not impact any of the businesses within Corporate Woods or Continental Executive Parke.
