Good Friday service returns to Elk Grove Baptist
Four Elk Grove Village Church congregations will celebrate Good Friday as one body at Elk Grove Baptist Church on Friday, April 22.
Elk Grove Baptist will host neighbors Living Hope, Christian Fellowship and the Brazilian Baptist Church of Chicago in a 7:30 p.m. Service of Worship and Communion.
Pastoral staff of each church will oversee segments of the service which commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and puts his death in perspective with his resurrection celebrated in Christian faith.
Over 300 people are expected to attend the multicongregational, multicultural service. Music will be led by Jay Manguba, worship pastor of Living Hope, and communion led by Lucas O'Neill, senior pastor of Christian Fellowship. This service is open to the entire community. It is not necessary to be a member of any of the four churches to attend.
Joel Wright, director of Portuguese Speaking Initiatives at Converge Worldwide, will present the sermon. Wright and his wife, Barbara, were long-time missionaries in Brazil. He has served as liaison between the Brazilian Baptist Church (IBBC) and Elk Grove Baptist (EGBC), and was instrumental in the IBBC returning to this community and holding its services at EGBC.
Elk Grove Baptist is located at 801 Beisner Road, Elk Grove Village, half block north of Alexian Brothers Hospital. It's recommended guests arrive by 7:15 p.m. Additional parking is available at the Alexian Brothers garage, just north of the emergency room.
