Antioch Twp. man sentenced for possessing child pornography

An Antioch Township man was sentenced to 2½ years in prison Tuesday after admitting he had child pornography on his computer.

Joshua Johnson, 25, was already on probation for a battery conviction when his probation officer found the images during a routine inspection.

Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Stanton said the probation officer took Johnson’s computer and a thumb drive from Johnson’s house in the 3800 block of North Drexel Boulevard on April 4, 2010.

The probation officer notified the state’s attorney’s office when he found the child pornography, and Johnson admitted to investigators he had been downloading the images from the Internet.

Johnson pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and faced a potential sentence of up to five years in prison.

Stanton said Johnson will also have to register as a sex offender once he is released from prison.
