Arlington Heights bull; Thieves stole a sweatshirt and keys out of an unlocked locker at X-Sport Fitness, 960 W. Dundee Road, around 12:30 p.m. Dec. 28. Loss was estimated at $450. bull; Thieves removed 10 "No Sledding" signs from the east side of Nichol Knoll Golf Course, 3800 N. Kennicott Ave., and threw them into a Dumpster. Damage was estimated at $400. bull; Thieves stole a purse out of an unlocked 2007 Jeep Cherokee between 4 and 4:05 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Metra depot, 2121 W. Northwest Hwy. The offenders took $50 and dropped the purse on the ground. bull; Burglars stole a purse with two gift cards valued at $200, a debit card, and cell phone out of a 2005 Toyota Tundra pickup truck at Sunset Meadows Park, 700 S. Dwyer Ave., between 12:15 and 1 p.m. Dec. 27. Someone used the debit card to purchase cigarettes at a Marathon gas station in Arlington Heights and tried unsuccessfully to withdraw $300.bull; Thieves stole a seven-drawer toolbox and tools, value estimated at $1,000, from a work station in a loading bay at Noff's Moving and Storage, 1735 E. Davis St., between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Dec. 29. bull; Burglars tried to force open the front door at a home on the 1000 block of East Thomas Avenue between 1:30 and 2:10 p.m. Dec. 27 but did not get inside. Damage was estimated at $700. bull; Burglars smashed a front window at Juntendo Clinic, 515 E. Juarez, 22, of the 600 block of North Stark Drive, Palatine, was arrested around 4:35 p.m. Dec. 27 at Central and Arlington Heights roads and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Feb. 8. The arresting officer ran the license plate on Juarez's car and discovered two arrest warrants for traffic violations out of Lake Zurich.Barringtonbull; Burglars broke into a 2007 Pontiac Torrent in a health club lot at 1301 S. Barrington Road between 2 and 3 p.m. Dec. 27 and stole a purse with $300 and a cell phone.bull; Burglars stole a cordless phone, land line phone, administrative policy manuals, training manual, and stamps and envelopes from an office at 421 N. Northwest Hwy. between Dec. 17 and 20. There was no sign of forced entry. Thieves also stole a snowboard valued at $300 from the same location around 9:20 p.m. Dec. 20. bull; Burglars smashed the front glass door at Nail Care, 1023 B Stearns Road, Dec. 24 and stole a 40-inch flat-screen TV with wall mount and various nail polishes. Loss was estimated at $3,200. bull; Vandals slashed four tires on a truck parked at Living Lord Lutheran Church, 1044 Congress Drive, Dec. 22. His court date is Jan. 19.bull; Travis Quinn Lanier, 28, of the 9900 block of Holly Lane, Des Plaines, was arrested around 4:15 p.m. Dec. 19 in a store parking lot at 1500 S. Lee St. and charged with retail theft. Reports said an officer saw him run from Dominick's, 1555 S. Lee St., and load five 12-packs of an energy drink into a car. Value was estimated at $112. A court date is Jan. 4.bull; Burglars broke into two trailers in a storage yard at 825 Seegers Road between Dec. 26 and 28 and stole an edger, leaf blowers, trimmers and tiller out of one of the trailers. The male driver had placed the bag in the car and returned to the store for his jacket. He saw the man get out of the Honda and leave in a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Reports said a witness saw him throw a chunk of ice at a car window. He walked away when the witness confronted him, but the witness followed Segovia to his apartment and then phoned police. Officers found stolen items in his bedroom, and reports said he admitted stealing GPS units out of a 2003 Ford Focus on the 700 block of Hill Drive, out of a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on the 1000 block of Knoll Lane, and 1999 Nissan Altima on the 600 block of Mesa Drive. His court date is Jan. 20.bull; Thad W. Satterfield, 19, of the 7600 block of Windsor Lane, Hanover Park, was arrested around 7:10 p.m. Dec. 23 at Dominick's, 2575 W. Golf Road, and charged with retail theft. His court date is Jan. 25.bull; Burglars climbed through an unlocked window at an apartment on the 700 block of Bode Circle between 6:30 p.m. and midnight Dec. 24 and stole money out of a piggy bank. Nothing else appeared to be missing.bull; Vandals shattered a driver's-side window on a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle and a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am on the 1100 block of Dovington Lane between 7 and 9:50 p.m. Dec. 29.bull; Two men opened the front driver's-side door on a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta on the 1900 block of Georgetown Lane around 12:55 a.m. Dec. 22 but left when they saw the female victim watching them. They were described as male blacks in their late teens or early 20s. One was dressed in dark clothes. The second man was described as 6 feet tall, medium build, and wearing a black and white bandanna over his mouth, green and black thin coat, dark pants and shoes.bull; A man broke into a 2005 Mercury Montego in an apartment lot on the 600 block of Hill Drive around 3:40 a.m. Dec. 23 and stole a GPS unit valued at $400. The male victim heard glass breaking and saw the burglar break the window with an ax; he fled with the GPS when the car alarm sounded.Mount Prospectbull; Burglars stole a garage door remote out of a 2004 Ford Explorer in a driveway on the 700 block of Eastman Drive around noon Dec. 18 and used the remote Dec. 20 to burglarize the garage at the home. Offenders stole hunting gear and boots; value was estimated over $2,000.bull; Vandals used a caustic chemical to write obscene graffiti on the entire passenger's-side of a 2002 Saturn sedan in a condominium lot on the 1700 block of Crystal Lane between Dec. 18 and 20. The unknown substance ate through the clear coat and paint and down to the primer. Damage was estimated at $2,000.bull; Vandals scratched a hate-filled word onto the hood and flattened two tires on a 2006 Nissan Sentra on the 700 block of Shabonee Trail between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 17 and 7:10 a.m. Dec. 18. Damage was estimated at $1,000.bull; A male vandal, 16-18 years old, smashed the front driver's-side mirror with a golf club on a 2001 Toyota sedan parked on the 0-100 block of South Louis Street around 11:45 p.m. Dec. 19. The offender was riding in a small silver SUV with two other males. The SUV drove north on Louis and east on Central Road. Damage was estimated at $250.bull; Burglars broke into a 2006 Ford Focus on the 1800 block of West Palm Drive between 7:15 p.m. Dec. 22 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and stole a GPS unit. Ashworth, 34, of the 7400 block of East Wooded Shore Drive, Wonder Lake, was arrested around 6 p.m. Dec. 21 on the 600 block of East Northwest Highway and charged with battery. Reports said he sprayed a man with pepper spray during an argument.bull; Kevin P. Haran, 18, of the 2000 block of Linden, Palatine, was arrested Dec. 18 on the 1200 block of South Leo Court and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.bull; Daniel C. Martinez, 29, of the 1900 block of North Hidden Creek Circle, Palatine, was arrested around 1:10 a.m. Dec. 2 and charged with criminal damage to property. Strawbridge, 40, of the 1000 block of Daniel Drive, Bensenville, was arrested around 2:55 a.m. Dec. 27 at Roselle and Central roads and charged with unlawful possession of firearms without a firearm owner's ID. An officer found several rounds of ammunition in his pockets and in his girlfriend's car.
