Scouting Maine South at Schaumburg

Maine South (14-0) at Schaumburg (6-4)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at Gary Scholz Stadium

Last year's opener: Maine South d. Schaumburg 64-35

Outlook: Maine South doesn't have Indiana freshman RB Matt Perez (2,258 yards, 38 TDs) or QB Tyler Benz (2,536 yards, 26 TDs) but the two-time defending 8A champions still have a lot of players who have been part of a 28-game winning streak. "We have to find a way to finish plays," said Schaumburg coach Mark Stilling. "When there are plays to be made - we have to make plays because the bottom line is they've got playmakers all over the place." Maine South will go with a QB rotation of junior Jimmy Frankos and sophomore Matt Alviti. Division I OT prospect Victor Nelson, WR Luke Mottley (30 catches, 461 yards, 6 TDs) and LB Luke Lenti have the Hawks hoping this is the start of a title three-peat.
