Sip, Sample, Shop--Second Annual Taste Takes Flight
An afternoon sampling food, chef demonstrations, wine tasting and boutique shopping awaits you at the second annual Taste Takes Flight on Friday, April 27th.
Taste Takes Flight is a culinary and shopping extravaganza taking place on April 27 at The Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows. More than 15 restaurants/caterers (see list below) from throughout the area are participating. Chefs will demonstrate and provide samples of the best they have to offer. The International House of Wine and Cheese from Richmond, Il will have nearly 30 wines for sampling and ordering.
The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and you can stay for an hour or the entire time. The Meadows Club is located at 2905 W. Golf Road, Rolling Meadows. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 the day of the event. There is also a VIP ticket for $100 (advance purchase only) with premium wines paired with cheese and chocolates. Tickets can be purchased through the WINGS web site (www.wingsprogram.com).
“Tip of the toque to our returning and new culinary masters. They will please your palates with their signature tastings. Come prepared to be WOWED by gourmet cuisine, culinary demonstrations and one-on-one interactions with the chefs,” states Nina Stephenson, co-chair of the event.
Tom Jiaras, president of the International House of Wine and Cheese which is located in Richmond, IL, will provide both new wines and old favorites for tasting. “Tom has traveled around the globe and brings his expertise to this event as well as his store. You will become a wine lover just listening to Tom,” according to co-chair, Sue Rogers. Jiaras will host the VIP room pairing premium wines with cheeses, and chocolates from Anderson Candy Shop, also in Richmond.
A portion of the funds raised will help support Romeo's Fund which supports WINGS' (Women in Need Growing Stronger) Safe House. Your support will help make it possible for many more women and children to access life-saving services and sanctuary through WINGS' Safe House. In addition to its Safe House, WINGS provides counseling and transitional housing to women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
BMO Harris Bank is the presenting sponsor for this event.
In addition to the food sampling and wine tasting, boutique shopping will feature culinary and kitchen products, gourmet foods, home décor, jewelry and accessories, all for sale. WINGS will also have a booth featuring designer clothes, shoes and accessories for sale. A cork pull (everyone's a winner) and raffle will also take place during the event.
“This year, our vendors are focusing on reasonably priced items to make entertaining easy, fashionable and fun. Some vendors will feature items that can be carried home or ordered, such as appetizers, cheeses, chocolates and gourmet baked goods, just to name a few,” said Sue Rogers.
Copies of the soon to be released The Mom 100 Cookbook by Katie Workman will be available for purchase. Workman will be signing books and discussing ways to make food fun and easy for all family members along with offering samples from some of her recipes.
