Cary’s free kite fly to promote license plate

Submitted by Cary Park District

Keep your eyes to the skies Saturday, April 14, when the Cary Park District hosts a fun, family-oriented kite fly as part of the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ statewide “Flying 4 Kids” month celebration.

The goal of “Flying 4 Kids” is to raise awareness of the Park District Youth License Plate, which features a colorful kite. Twenty-five dollars from the sale and subsequent renewals of each plate is placed into the association’s Power Play Grant Program, a special grant fund to benefit programming for youth at park districts and recreation agencies throughout Illinois.

Visitors should bring their own kites and are encouraged to participate in a kite fly competition or fly kites on their own.

The kite fly will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14 at Lions Park, off Silver Lake and Three Oaks roads. The event is free. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information about the Kite Fly, call the Cary Park District at (847) 639-6100 or visit www.carypark.com.
