Learn about the health benefits of hiking at Spring Valley

Enjoy the beautiful outdoors and get healthy by hiking.

Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, will host Hiking for Health, a free program, at 7:30 p.m., May 2. Dr. Enrique Saguil, a sports and family medicine physician, will discuss ways in which hiking provides many of the same health benefits of more strenuous exercise without the time commitment and wear and tear on joints.

Hiking, an activity for all ages, translates into decreased risk factors for heart disease, stroke, and cancer, and reduces stress. Dr. Saguil will show beginners how to safely add hiking to their daily life and offer a template for adding his relaxation and meditation techniques to walks.
