Kernats in command for Glenbard East

Jill Kernats twirled a 2-hitter and slugged a 2-run home run in Glenbard East’s 6-0 win over West Aurora on Monday in Aurora.

Alyssa Byrne singled in 2 runs in the first inning and Brittany Plimmer doubled in 2 more in the second for Glenbard East (6-21, 1-7 DuPage Valley Conference), which played error-free ball behind Kernats in handing West Aurora (6-19, 1-7) its fifth shutout in DVC games.

Lake Park 18, Larkin 0:

Kelly O’Neill and Stephanie Starr homered and doubled for the No. 17 Lancers (15-8, 9-2 Upstate Eight Valley), who no-hit Larkin behind Marilyn Perry (9-4).

Fenton 6, St. Joseph 1:

The Bison (13-8) ran their win streak to nine straight games behind Alyssa Ciepley (10-6), who struck out six. Hannah Wassmann went 2-for-2, scored 2 runs and drove in a run and Stephanie Susmarski added a 2-run single.

WW South 6, Wheaton North 1:

Sammy Granger (9-7) fired a 3-hitter, striking out nine, and the host Tigers (13-13, 4-3 DVC) blew open a close game with 4 runs in the sixth. Kristy Santora was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for WW South.

Glenbard West 3, York 0:

Taylor Langtry (11-5) struck out seven and scattered 5 hits for the host Hilltoppers (12-9, 4-1 West Suburban Silver). Rachel Hitzemann was 2-for-2 with a walk and scored 2 runs and Julia Waggoner 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Downers Grove South 13, Willowbrook 7:

Kristina Airdo hit a 2-run homer and Katy LaCivita went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI for the Mustangs (15-8, 4-1 West Suburban Gold) who pounded out 19 hits to outslug host Willowbrook. Sam Schmidt homered for the Warriors.

Wheaton Academy 13, Guerin 5:

Jess Bosse homered, drove in 3 runs and scored twice and Bekah Heubner doubled and scored twice for the Warriors (8-13, 4-8 Suburban Christian Gold), who scored 6 runs in the third inning to snap a 2-2 tie. Marissa Gagliano had 2 singles, stole 2 bases and scored twice.
