Night life: Grown-up cocktail

Kiddie no more

The childhood kiddie cocktail has been given an age-appropriate makeover at the Gather Bar in the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel. The Not-So-Kiddie Cocktail adds Effen vodka to Sierra Mist and a sweet splash of grenadine, garnished with a maraschino cherry, for $10.

High-rise wine

Go high above the city to enjoy wine and rock at a pairing event between The Signature Room at the 95th and The Drive 97.1 FM. The Drive’s Bob Stroud will pair the notes of hand-picked wines with a live rock tune to match that vintage from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 9. The evening includes gourmet passed hors d’oeuvres, artisan cheeses and more. $75 per person.

Fire Chief Ale

Call the fire department! Wait, the chief is already in the house with the return of Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery’s annual limited time Fire Chief Ale. Through April 15, grab a pint of this medium-bodied, auburn colored ale and enjoy the subtle sweetness and slightly toasted nature for $5.25 per pint. Part of the proceeds benefit local fire departments.
