Propane grill heat ignites Streamwood home

Streamwood fire officials say heat from a nearby propane grill is to blame for a Friday afternoon fire that severely damaged a single-family home.

Firefighters arrived at the home at 407 Arnold just before 1:30 p.m. to find heavy fire coming from the attic and rear of the home and a nearby shed.

Officials estimate the fire, smoke and water damage to the home will be about $200,000.

An unidentified man was home at the time of the fire but escaped without injuries.
