Rolling Meadows students collecting supplies for troops

Students at Rolling Meadows High School are looking for community donations this week as they wrap up a drive to send packages to troops overseas.

Under the sponsorship of the organization “Soldiers’ Angels,” Rolling Meadows students involved in Career Technology Education have been gathering supplies all week to help make the lives of soldiers serving overseas easier, said teacher Linda Pribyl.

Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer-led nonprofit with hundreds of thousands of volunteers providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, veterans and their families.

Students enrolled in culinary classes will hold a Chili Cook Off from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday before the boys and girls basketball “Pack the Place” games against Buffalo Grove High School. Students will be selling the winning chili recipe for $5, but anyone who brings an item to donate to soldiers will get $1 off.

The students also are working with the Rolling Meadow Rotary Club to donate supplies and teams of students will be packing the boxes on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
