Miss Cary, Miss Fox River Grove seek contestants

Candidates are being sought for the 2012 Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Business Scholarship Pageant, scheduled for Saturday, May 19, at Cary-Grove High School, 2208 Three Oaks Road. The event is coordinated by the Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce. Winners receive $1,000 business scholarships from the chamber and numerous prizes donated by local business.

Applications forms are available at the chamber office at 445 Park Ave., at Cary-Grove High School and on the chamber website at carygrovechamber.com. The deadline to register is Monday, Feb. 13.

Young women who apply for the pageant must be between the ages of 16 to 21 and reside within either ZIP codes 60013 or 60021. They will be expected to appear at the 2012 Community Showcase Saturday, March 3, at the high school, participate in business and community events, and compete the night of the pageant on May 19.

The first official meeting of candidates will be a mandatory photo and information session at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Wool Street Grill & Sports Bar, 800 Feinberg Court, Cary.

Each pageant contestant must be sponsored by a Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce member. The cost to sponsor a candidate is $250. Sponsors receive significant visibility throughout the pageant process. The chamber has a list of businesses interested in sponsoring.
