Homecoming this week at Palatine, Fremd

Homecoming is in the air this week at both Palatine and Fremd high schools.

The theme for this year’s Homecoming at Palatine High School is “Red Carpet Rendezvous,” with the school’s Student Council organizing many of the weeklong activities. The annual Royal Rally featuring the Homecoming Court and crowning of the King and Queen will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the school’s gymnasium, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road in Palatine.

The football game will be Friday, Sept. 30, with varsity kicking off at 7:30 p.m. in the stadium. Homecoming Dance follows from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the school.

Meanwhile, Fremd High School celebrates 50 years of Homecoming festivities. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at the Pep Rally and Rose Arbor celebration on Friday, Sept. 30, beginning at 1 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

The annual Golf Cart Parade, featuring golf carts decorated by students from clubs and activities, will be between the sophomore and varsity football games on Sept. 30, at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the stadium.

The Homecoming football game features the Vikings taking on the Schaumburg Saxons, with the varsity starting at 7:30 p.m.

“Under the Sea” is the theme for this year’s Homecoming Dance, a throwback to the first Fremd High School Homecoming Dance 50 years ago. The dance is from 7:30 until 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1,
