Des Plaines Park District hosts tea

Fifty-five little ladies and their mothers, grandmothers and aunts, dressed in their spring finery, enjoyed a spot o’ tea and sweets at the seventh annual Des Plaines Park District Mother Daughter Tea April 2 at Prairie Lakes Community Center.

Amidst floral decorations, the guests dined on finger sandwiches, fresh fruits, cheeses and sweets while sipping tea and lemonade.

After lunch, the girls played spring bingo and made a flower pot photo frame craft. The Des Plaines Camera Club was on hand for free family keepsake portraits, and the girls had a chance to win matching Mother Daughter spring baskets by guessing the number of sugar cubes in the jar. Katelyn Dahl, 5, and her mother, Laura, were the winners with their guess of 1,100 cubes.

“Ten lucky guests also won a pair of tickets to the Artistry in Motion Spring Spectacular,” said Nancy Suwalski, Cultural Arts supervisor. “This is another wonderful girls’ day out event, and a chance for up and coming dancers to see our Des Plaines Park District company perform award-winning dances choreographed by professional, working dancers.”
