Blizzard baby born at GlenOaks
A Bloomingdale couple who needed help getting to the hospital during this week’s blizzard has a new addition to the family.
Leanna DeMarre, 25, gave birth to Adalaide Vesper DeMarre, weighing 6 pounds, 11 ounces, at 5:51 p.m. Wednesday.
The couple arrived at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights about 2 a.m. Wednesday in an ambulance trailing a snowplow. Leanna’s water broke about 12:30 a.m., just as the storm hit its strongest point.
Her husband, Sean, called an ambulance, which ended up stuck in the snow. Firefighters shoveled a path from the front door while a fire truck and village plow helped free the ambulance.
