FBI honors DuPage investigator for cop’s arrest
The FBI has honored a DuPage County investigator for her work to bring charges against a former Clarendon Hills cop convicted of stealing guns from an evidence room.
Cheryl York, a senior state’s attorney investigator, was recognized at a private ceremony Wednesday by FBI Special Agents Patrick Murphy and Vic Lombardo, officials said.
York was selected for her work on the official misconduct case of Daniel Ryan, a former police officer accused of taking five weapons from an evidence room at the Clarendon Hills Police Department in 2007. Authorities have said the probe began with an anonymous tip last year.
“The success of this public corruption investigation would not have been possible without Senior Investigator York’s knowledge, professionalism and dedication,” Robert Grant, FBI special agent in charge, said in a statement.
State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said York has been with the office nearly 20 years.
“She is a top-notch investigator, and we are lucky to have her on our team,” he said.
Ryan, 49, of Westmont pleaded guilty to official misconduct in March and was sentenced to 24 months of probation, according to court records.
