Free Money Management Programs Available During Financial Planning Week
Free programs targeting Social Security benefits, utility bill charges and balancing budgets will be offered during Financial Planning Week, beginning Monday, Oct. 7, at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd.
The week will kick off with “Strategies for Claiming Social Security Benefits” from 7-9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7 in the Adult Classroom on the library’s second floor. Presenter Karen Chan, CFP, will explain claiming options and how much money is at stake.
Anyone concerned about utility bill charges is welcome to attend “Utility Bill Check Up” from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8 in the Rasmussen North Room. Bring recent copies of gas, electric and telephone bills to this event. Representatives from the Citizens Utility Board, Illinois premier watchdog group, will work with attendees to sift through the confusing charges. This session is limited to 60 participants who will be taken in order of arrival.
Financial Planning Week will conclude with “Bring Your Budget into Balance” from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 in the Rasmussen North Room. Presenter Becky Jahnke of Edward Jones will discuss personal budgeting and shed light on loans, borrowing and the importance of managing credit and debt.
