Local teen musicians to compete in Cary

Eight local teen bands will be showing off their talents in the Battle of the Bands competition, hosted by the Cary Park District and the Cary Area Public Library.

The competition will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5 at the Rotary bandshell in Lions Park, off Silver Lakes Road, north of Three Oaks Road in Cary. Admission to the event is free.

The Battle of the Bands competition gives local musicians a way to showcase their talent onstage in front of an audience. The winning band is decided by a panel of judges and will move on to compete in the regional competition held in August. The winner of the regional competition will move on to compete in the state competition in Springfield.

The eight bands scheduled to perform are Gomorrah, La Causa, One Shot Left, Plastic Spoon Revolution, Poseidon, Private, Still Blank and The Torchea Experience.

Band members are between the ages of 12 to 21. Each band will have approximately 20-30 minutes to perform, and the winner will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
