Prep Hockey Club helps needy children

In January, 45 members of the PREP Hockey Club including players and parents presented a check for $610 to Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg along with packing food for two hours to be shipped to needy children around the world.

The money donated was raised during the fourth annual Winter Classic held Jan. 7, when both PREP’s junior varsity and varsity teams played Glenbard at the Watts Ice Rink in Glencoe. A raffle was held as well a Chuck A Ducks to raise the money.

PREP packed over 70 cases of food which will feed 41 children for a year and donated the money to help provide meals for seven children.

Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit Christian organization located in Schaumburg, is committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and ship the meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.

PREP Hockey is holding spring evaluations 6:40 p.m. Saturday, March 17, and 9:15 a.m. Monday, March 19, at West Meadows Ice Arena, 3939 Winnetka Circle, Rolling Meadows. Evaluations are open to anyone currently attending Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Elk Grove or Prospect high schools or eighth-graders, who will be attending these schools this fall.
