Kuhs named Mt. Prospect parks executive director
Ÿ Gregory Kuhs was named executive director of the Mount Prospect Park District.
During his 32 year career, Kuhs has served as superintendent of recreation for the Prospect Heights, Addison and Deerfield park districts and director of parks and recreation for the North Berwyn and Salt Creek park districts. Most recently, he was executive director of Wood Dale Park District.
Kuhs served as chair and trustee of the Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association; chair of the Northwest Special Recreation Association and is a past board member of the Special Leisure Services Foundation. He is also a certified park and recreation professional, a member of the National Recreation and Park Association, a member of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and a graduate of its Professional Development School.
Ÿ Lee Stanley, associate principal of Rolling Meadows High School, is the recipient of the 2013 Illinois School Counselor Association’s School Administrator of the Year Award.
Selected for her outstanding leadership in providing counselors with the resources, support and encouragement needed to help students attain success, Stanley is a committed advocate for staff, students and families in the District 214 community.
Stanley will be honored before her peers, colleagues, and an assembly of school counselors at the ISCA State conference April 19, at the Skokie Holiday Inn.
Ÿ Edward Hrunek has completed a specialized educational program in professional divorce financial analysis and is now a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, a certification issued by the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.
As a CDFA, Hrunek, who is employed on the accounting and consulting services team of Porte Brown LLC, in Elk Grove Village, is trained to provide financial information and assistance to people in divorce, including evaluating the tax implications of dividing property and the settlement options for dividing pensions, marital property and awarding of child and spousal support.
Ÿ Katherine Haugh of Hoffman Estates received a Presidential Scholarship from Xavier University. Haugh, the daughter of Tammy Randall and John Haugh, will graduate from Fremd High School, Palatine, this spring.
Haugh is active in art and German clubs and Model U.N. at Fremd. She plans to major in accounting.
Ÿ Tony Marino joined the Glenview Park District as its new head Paddle Tennis professional. Marino will be responsible for overseeing the paddle tennis programs, including all instruction, at the new golf and paddle tennis facility.
He joins the Glenview Park District from Valley Lo Sports Club, Glenview, where he held the position of director of Racquet Sports for the past seven years. Marino became a certified platform tennis professional in 2006, through the Professional Platform Tennis Association. He also worked as the associate tennis professional at Forest View Racquet and Fitness Club in Arlington Heights.
Ÿ State Rep. Fred Crespo, a Democrat from Hoffman Estates, was appointed to the Illinois State Board of Higher Education Performance Funding Steering Committee.
Crespo was appointed by House leadership to sit on the committee after his time spent creating a task force to study performance based funding of higher education in Illinois.
The committee is made up of individuals representing the Office of the Governor, the General Assembly, public institutions of higher education, state agencies, businesses, and statewide organizations representing faculty and staff. Illinois state law tasks the steering committee with creating a system for allocating state resources to public institutions of higher education based upon their performance in achieving state educational goals.
