Lakemoor-area business owner catches burglary suspect

A Lakemoor-area business owner was alerted that his business was broken into Monday morning and was able to grab the masked man before he could escape, according to authorities.

McHenry County sheriff’s deputies responded to the business on the 500 block of Eastview Avenue at 6:47 a.m. Monday and arrested Kyle M. Griebel, 22, of McHenry, according to police.

Police said the business owner found Griebel hiding in the warehouse wearing a ski mask and gloves and was able to apprehend him before deputies arrived.

Griebel is being held at the McHenry County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Police said additional charges may be filed, as the investigation is ongoing.

Police said both the business owner and sheriff’s deputies responded when the burglar tripped the business’s alarm system.
