Marsalli leads Neuqua to win

Neuqua Valley 11, Plainfield South 2: Jenna Marsalli homered, went 3-for-4 and scored 3 runs for the No. 13 Wildcats (2-2) in Naperville. Leigh Nebendahl went 4-for-4 and scored 3 runs and winning pitcher Rachel Bannister (1-0) struck out three.

Downers Grove South 6, Lockport 5, 10 innings: Danielle Trezzo singled in Kelly Howatt after Marissa Mersch was intentionally walked, as the Mustangs won their season opener in Lockport. Katie Talbot, who pitched 61/3 innings of relief to get the win, had reached on an error with Howatt running for her to start the rally. Jenny Nichols hit a 3-run homer in the fourth for Downers Grove South, who scored 2 runs in the seventh to force extra innings.

York 4, Benet 1: Jordan Woll threw a 2-hitter as the Dukes (1-0) handed No. 8 Benet (3-1) its first loss in Lisle.

Marist 4, West Chicago 2: LSU recruit Rikki Alcaraz hit a 3-run triple as the host RedHawks beat No. 7 West Chicago (3-2).
