New chaplain joins Advocate Condell Medical Center staff

In keeping with its faith-based mission, officials at Advocate Condell Medical Center have added a new chaplain to the staff.

The Rev. Tyron Smith has been named Night Chaplain, in Condell's Office for Mission and Spiritual Care.

Smith is an ordained minister in the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. He earned his master of divinity degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Lombard, and his bachelor of arts in Pastoral Studies from The Moody Bible Institute, Chicago. He received his clinical pastoral education training at Advocate Christ Medical Center (residency) and Advocate South Suburban Hospital.

Most recently, Smith worked as a chaplain at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest. He also serves as Associate Minister and Pastoral Care Coordinator for Union Evangelistic Baptist Church in Chicago Heights.

Smith joins Manager of Chaplaincy, Patrick Ames, and staff chaplains Rev. Fran Bates and Jessica Harren. Advocate Condell offers 24/7 spiritual care. The office of Mission and Spiritual Care is directed by Rev. Fred Rajan, vice president.
